Two seriously injured men drove themselves to a Napier medical centre seeking help last night.
Medical staff at the after hours medical centre on Wellesley Street transferred both unrelated patients to hospital. The first man, a 23-year-old, arrived with what was believed to be a serious blow to the head at 11.45pm, detective senior sergeant Dave de Lange said.
At 5.30 this morning, a 37-year-old arrived at the centre by car with stab wounds to his head and torso. He was allegedly assaulted in his home, de Lange said.
Police are investigating the two incidents, which have left both men in critical conditions in Hawke's Bay Hospital.
