Marton mechanic burgled
Marton police are appealing for information about a vehicle and trailer seen parked near a burgled mechanic workshop.
Robbie's Mechanical Services on Wellington Road, Marton, was burgled on August 28.
A large container at the rear of the workshop was broken into and numerous hire equipment stolen, including chainsaws, concrete cutters, jack hammers, and other specialised hire equipment.
Constable Matt Davis said witnesses told police that some time between 11pm and midnight a dark grey early 1980s 4x4 was seen parked on vacant land near the back of the workshop.
The vehicle had either a horse float, or enclosed furniture trailer coloured brown or red, attached to the back.
Two people were reportedly seen with the vehicle.
Davis said police were seeking information on the vehicle and in particular, the horse/furniture float which could have been hired or stolen from the Whanganui, Horowhenua, or Palmerston North areas.
Some of the stolen equipment would be hard to move because of its specialised nature, and anyone who had been offered hardware equipment at a discount rate recently were encouraged to contact police.
Officers are in the process of analysing CCTV footage from the business, Davis said.
- Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Davis on 327 4296 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
