Palmerston North’s playing and training grounds are now open to use after rain saw them closed earlier this week.
On Wednesday, all grounds were declared closed until further notice due to significant rainfall in the area. On Thursday, all training grounds were reopened but playing grounds remained shut.
Palmerston North City Council infrastructural liaison officer Jacquie Mannes said the decision to close the ground was normally made around 10am each day by the groundsmen.
‘‘What they try and do is make sure they are available for the weekend, and whatever other games we have during the week, rather than training.’’
