Two people had to be prised from the wreckage of their car after it flipped off the road and crash-landed into a ditch on the outskirts of Palmerston North.
A woman, who police believed to be aged in her 30s, was taken to Palmerston North hospital by ambulance about 12.30pm yesterday suffering from suspected fractures after the vehicle she was driving left the road near Rongotea.
Her male passenger was shocked but unhurt, Feilding Sergeant Grant Lawton said.
Feilding police and fire services from Foxton and Palmerston North attended the scene on Milner Rd, using the jaws of life to extract the pair from the overturned vehicle.
Sergeant Lawton said the car was heading west and had come off the road for reasons not yet known.
It was possible the deterioating weather was a factor, he said, and police were investigating the cause of the accident.
