Palmerston North Boys' High School has this morning announced the appointment of its new rector.
Deputy rector David Bovey will take over leadership of the school at the beginning of term four next month, becoming just the ninth person to hold the position
He replaces Tim O'Connor, who has been appointed headmaster at Auckland Grammar School.
Board of Trustees chairman Michael Lawrence said Mr Bovey was appointed after "a comprehensive recruitment process where a high calibre of applicants was received".
He was a staff member at Boys' High School from 1998 to 2002, before working at Lindisfarne College from 2003 to 2007. He then returned to Boys' High School in 2008 as deputy rector.
Mr Bovey was a senior and Central Districts cricket representative and senior rugby player, and currently coaches the Boys' High School 2nd XV.
"David has experience in boarding management and brings a rigorous approach to academic achievement that will take the school forward while maintaining the vision, ideals and values that PNBHS has become synonymous with," Mr Lawrence said.
