Crash victim 'kind, warm-hearted'
The woman killed in a car crash just outside Palmerston North was ''kind and warm-hearted''.
Bulls woman Doreen Rebecca Tamblyn, 74, was killed when her vehicle collided with a truck on Rangitikei Line, State Highway 3, just outside Palmerston North about 7am on Monday.
The crash has left Tamblyn's family reeling.
A spokeswoman for her family said they were still coming to terms with their mother and grandmother's sudden death.
''She will be forever loved and in our hearts.''
She described Tamblyn as ''kind and warm-hearted'', and proud of her family.
Well known to the Bulls community, she was like a mother to many of her children's friends, the spokeswoman said.
They expected a funeral to be held next week.
The crash closed Rangitikei Line for about three hours while police examined the scene.
The serious crash unit is still investigating the cause of the crash, but Acting Senior Sergeant Steve Crawford, of Palmeston North, said initial investigations suggested that her vehicle crossed the centre line travelling towards Palmerston North and was hit by an oncoming truck.
Two other people involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.
