National Croquet Results.

The first two days of the Central Regions Veteran's Croquet tournament at Dannevirke proved to be a successful time for Manawatu players.

John Wall of Rose Gardens (PN) won the Championship Association Croquet event, winning on a countback from Mike Crashley of Hawkes Bay.

Included in John's five wins was a Triple Peel. Manawatu's success was even more pronounced in the Handicap Association Croquet Event with Manawatu players filling the first three places in the event. Haig Thomson of Rose Gardens beat Bethia Campbell of Rangatira (Dannevirke) in the final and in the playoff for third & fourth position, Michael Hardman (Rose Gardens) bt Terry Price (Wairarapa)...

Day 3 will see Doubles Events in Association & Golf Croquet being played.

National Croquet resultsDay 3 at Dannevirke saw Hawkes Bay and Taranaki come into their own in the doubles. Mike Cashley of Hawkes Bay teamed up with Manawatu's Bethia Campbell (Rangatira) to win the Association Croquet Handicap Doubles. In the Golf Croquet Handicap Doubles, Don & Annette Reyland of Hawkes Bay were unbeaten with 7 wins while another husband & wife team, Gary & Val King of Taranaki, were runners up with 5 wins, on a countback from Manawatu's Judy Kermode & Chris Reay (Rose Gardens), also with 5 wins.

On Days 4 & 5 of the tournament players will contest Golf Croquet Singles.

National Croquet Results

The final two days at the Central Region NZ Vets Tournament saw Hawkes Bay again showing its strength in Golf Croquet. Having been unbeaten on day three to win the Golf Croquet Handicap Doubles with wife, Annette, Don Reyland was again unbeaten to win the Golf Croquet Levels Singles from Manawatu's John Wall (Rose Gardens) who was runner up.

Graeme Gowan, also of Hawkes Bay, with 7 wins was the winner of the Golf croquet Handicap Singles from Manawatu's Michael Hardman (Rose Gardens) with 6 wins.
