Winter made an early appearance in Manawatu overnight, with the temperature falling to -2.5 degrees C at Palmerston North Airport, and Metservice says another chilly night is in store.

Cold air coming up from the south combined with high pressure building up from the west last night led to a cold night with clear skies and light winds, Metservice meterologist John Law said.

''I think it's going to be another cold night tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if the temperatures got back to below freezing in some spots.''

However, some cloud cover tonight might help keep the temperature ''a degree or so better'', he said.

Do you have faith in police solving burglaries?

Yes - there's no faulting their commitment.

Mostly, but they are under-resourced.

Sort of - depends on when and where.

Not really - clearly a low priority for them.

Absolutely not.

Not sure - luckily I've never been burgled.
