A Palmerston North man has landed himself in trouble for buying a "dodgy" $10,000 Ford Falcon for $900.
Jacob Waimaria Len Bowler, 35, was sentenced yesterday in the Palmerston North District Court for receiving stolen property valued at more than $1000 and driving while suspended.
On November 22 he was caught driving the Falcon, which was stolen in October last year, in Gisborne.
When asked about the car, he said he thought the car was "dodgy" but he bought it from a friend for $900 because it was cheap.
Judge Gerard Lynch sentenced him to six months' community detention, 125 hours' community work and disqualified him from driving for one year and one day.
