Man arrested for city rape
A Palmerston North man has been arrested and charged with raping and sexually violating a woman in the city.
Talor Nicol, 20, made no plea in the Palmerston North District Court this morning to charges of rape and sexual violation of a woman aged above 16 years of age.
He was arrested yesterday in relation to the alleged rape of a woman on March 22 last year.
Duty lawyer Mark Alderdice and Judge Barbara Morris discussed the possibility of bail.
Alderdice said it would be best for Nicol's lawyer, Steve Winter, to tackle any bail hearing.
Nicol was remanded in custody until later this month for a bail hearing.
