State Highway 2 has reopened after eight hours blocked in both directions due to a truck toppled by wind just south of the Hawke's Bay.
Police said high winds caused the truck to crash on to its side - blocking the Takapau section of SH2 which runs in between Dannevirke and Hastings - at 5.14am.
The driver was uninjured when the truck, which wasn't carrying any cargo, was blown over, police said.
Diversions are in place and traffic is not heavy at this point, police said.
Motorists can travel via an alternative route on Oruawharo Rd and Takapau Ormondville Rd to avoid the crash but the road should reopen shortly.
Emergency workers were using a crane to remove the truck, a central districts police spokesman said.
