Police are still appealing for help from the public to shed some light on the reason why shots were fired at a Palmerston North house.

Police were called to the house in Oakley St about 10pm on Monday, after shots were fired into the house and a car parked outside.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said at least eight shots were let off, believed to be from a .22 calibre weapon.

No-one was injured, although children and adults were at the house at the time.

Investigations of neighbouring properties had not turned up any eyewitnesses, and they had not received any calls from the public, Sheridan said.

Yesterday, bullet holes in a wall of the house, and in a net curtain and front window, were visible.

Sheridan said police wanted to hear from anyone with information about the shooting, or from anyone who was in the area about the time of the incident.

Palmerston North police can be contacted on 351 3600 or information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
