A motorcyclist wearing no helmet is lucky to have survived a head-on crash with a car near Mangahao settlement, east of Shannon.
Shannon constable Charlie Rudd said about 9.30am yesterday the motorcyclist was heading west down Mangahao Rd, when it collided with the small car, which was carrying two people.
Rudd said St John ambulance treated the man at the scene for a suspected broken leg and chest impact injuries.
The people travelling in the car were uninjured and shaken, but assisted the man and called for help.
The motorcyclist was a 45-year-old Mangahao man, who will face charges of careless driving, driving while disqualified and wearing no helmet.
