The Feilding Farmers' Market has come up trumps again, winning the Farmers' Market of the Year Award for the third successive year. The award is given to the most popular market in New Zealand, according to consumer vote.
Volunteers at the Feilding market had spent weeks assisting with ensuring customers' votes were collated.
Feilding Promotion's project manager Raewyn Loader, who runs the market, was also recognised, winning the Market Manager of the Year award.
Both awards are timely for the market as Feilding was host to the annual awards event last night.
Last month, judges and chefs Julie Bisuo and Hester Guy and Farmers' Markets NZ chairperson Chris Fortune gathered in Feilding to taste products entered into the various food categories. Two products from the Feilding Farmers' Market won their categories.
Almadale Produce won ‘Dirt on the Roots' for its potatoes. Lancaster Citrus won best food producer from the "Kitchen Bench" category for marmalade made from its orchard produce.
