Cordon lifted at primary school
A cordon has been lifted from a Whanganui primary school.
Churton School, in Aramoho, had been cordoned off by police and neighbours warned to stay indoors following an alleged sighting from a member of the public of an armed man on school property.
Police were not able to confirm the report.
The primary school was put in lockdown and neighbours warned to stay indoors following the alleged sighting from a member of the public shortly before 1pm.
Armed officers checked a number of school buildings, but did not find anyone.
The cordon was lifted shortly after 2.30pm.
