A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries to his arm and hand following a hit-and-run incident in Palmerston North.
The 45-year-old man was hit by a brown Ford Telstar that was driving on the wrong side of the road, at the intersection of Te Awe Awe and Ihaka streets on Wednesday night.
Senior Sergeant Brett Calkin said the Telstar's 46-year-old driver had been arrested and charged with failing to stop and ascertain injury and careless driving causing injury.
Mr Calkin said the crash occurred when the Telstar overtook a white car when it was stationary at the intersection.
Police were keen to speak to the people in the white car, Mr Calkin said.
The motorcyclist was treated and released from Palmerston North Hospital yesterday.
