The post-mortem of a man who died in a farm accident in the remote settlement of Weber will be carried out today.
The 65-year-old farmer was found by his wife in a paddock behind their Hawke's Bay house about 11am yesterday. He was last seen by his wife at 7am when he left the shearing shed to do other farming activities.
When he had not returned his wife and son went to check the area he was working in. After they found him they called emergency services, who pronounced him dead.
Police were unable to release the name of the man because next of kin were still being notified yesterday.
Pongaroa senior Constable David Kirk said the death was not suspicious.
"At this stage it appears he died while going about some duties on the farm," although he would not say what kind of work he was doing.
Mr Kirk said the Department of Labour was also investigating.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
