It wasn't in the woods, but yesterday was still the day that teddy bears had their picnic.

Little ones arrived with teddy bears clutched tightly for a morning of fun, games and stories at the Te Manawa teddy bears' picnic.

Bright shining eyes belonged to more than the stuffed toys as Friends of the City Library put on an array of entertainment for the preschoolers, who lapped up every minute and sat transfixed, accompanied by their favourite soft toy.

Sophie Bailey-Jarvis, 4, with her teddy was just one of the crowd who had a big surprise and a big smile.

The lower drink-driving limits from December are:

Great - too much carnage on our roads.

Overkill - targets moderate drinkers, not the heavies

Still too little - make it zero tolerance.

Sensible - punishment is in line with lesser breaches of limit.
