Another group of drunken revellers has caused trouble at Palmerston North's temporary ice-skating rink.

Troublemakers have been spoiling the excitement around the half-covered outdoor facility in The Square, which opened on June 23.

But the company that helped bring it here said ice skates were being stolen from opening day, and police were called to two incidents at the rink last weekend.

Police reported being called to the rink on several occasions, where drunk people were finding their way on to the ice in the early hours of the morning.

They were called out again at 3.15am on Sunday, and found six people on the ice.

Police ordered the group to leave.

Acting Palmerston North Inspector Brett Calkin said the incident came during a relatively quiet weekend when six people were arrested for suspected drink-driving and another six were taken into custody for detoxification.

In total there were 31 arrests in the weekend.

What would you like the weather to do in March?

Stay sunny, I've loved February!

A few showers to appease the farmers, but not too much.

A whole month of rain is needed.
