Police are searching for the driver of a brown van who chased an 8-year-old girl along a Marton street.
The van pulled up alongside the girl, who was cycling down Alexandra St, about 5.30pm on Tuesday last week.
The male driver got out of the van and began chasing the girl down the street.
The girl fled on her bike screaming and managed to reach safety.
"We need to find this van and talk to the driver with some urgency,'' Sergeant Peter Wood of Marton said.
The driver was described as a Maori in his early to mid twenties, and about 1.83 metres tall. He was solidly built and wore ripped blue jeans and a white T-shirt.
The van was described as older-style, possibly a Toyota, with mud up the sides and on the wheels.
