Competitors at the Tough Guy and Gal challenge will have to contend with the mud but not the cold this weekend.

Hundreds of Tough Guy and Gal entrants will descend on Linton Military Camp tomorrow in a bid to prove just how tough they really are.

MetService forecaster Melissa Roux said there was a chance of some frost in sheltered areas but it didn’t look like it would be ‘‘particularly severe’’.

Tomorrow and Sunday morning were expected to be about 2 or 3 degrees Celsius. Temperatures during both days would be about 14C and 16C.

‘‘At the moment it looks like it will be a generally northerly flow so slightly warmer, not necessarily the very cold it has been,’’ Ms Roux said.

‘‘It’s going to be a mainly fine weekend with just some scattered rain on Sunday night but otherwise fine.’’

The lower drink-driving limits from December are:

Great - too much carnage on our roads.

Overkill - targets moderate drinkers, not the heavies

Still too little - make it zero tolerance.

Sensible - punishment is in line with lesser breaches of limit.
