Manawatu is likely to miss much of the unsettled weather forecast for the rest of the country this weekend.
Bouts of scattered and patchy rain were expected to start overnight in the region on Saturday but would ease by Sundayafternoon according to MetService.
Forecaster Larissa Marintehencko tomorrow would be fine with high cloud and northeasterly winds. ‘‘So basically light winds for Manawatu,’’ Miss Marintehencko said.
Easterlies would develop tomorrow afternoon and there would be morning rain on Sunday in the region.
A band of rain and strong northeast winds were expected to lash the far north of the North Island. A severe weather warning for heavy rain was in place for parts of Northland.
Heavy rain would spread down over the remainder of the North Island on Sunday to reach northern and eastern parts of the South Island.
