Palmerston North’s playing and training grounds have been closed today after a deluge of rain overnight made them too wet for use.

Palmerston North City Council’s infrastructural liaison officer Jacquie Mannes said the grounds were open at the weekend but were closed this morning.

‘‘What we try and do is keep them closed during the week to try and get the best possible conditions for those competition and games on Saturday.

Miss Mannes was unsure when the grounds would be reopened.

‘‘Realistically, we’re in the hands of Mother Nature. There’s a lot of water on the ground.’’

Both playing and training grounds were closed for all but one day last week.

Will Aaron Cruden's omission hurt or help the All Blacks?

Hurt - he needs as much game time as possible.

Help - finally Beauden Barrett will get a proper run.

Hmmm - no biggie, just a temporary hitch.

Who is Cruden? I support the All Whites.
