An eight-year-old boy was taken to Palmerston North Hospital after being hit by a car outside the Globe Theatre on Main St.

The incident happened about 4.30pm today.

Constable McLean from Palmerston North Police said the boy’s injuries were not life threatening.

‘‘Thankfully the car had just pulled away from the lights and was travelling at around 30 kilometres [an hour]."

It is understood the boy stepped out from between two parked cars.
