A woman was taken into custody this morning after police were called to a rural Manawatu house where she had been smashing windows.

The woman, who has an intellectual disability, had been smashing windows at a Pinfold Rd property, where she lives, throughout the week.

Acting Senior Sergeant Phil Ward said the property was used by IHC.

Police were called there yesterday when staff became concerned for the woman’s and their own safety.

She was distressed when police arrived today, but quickly calmed down, Mr Ward said.

She was taken into custody to be assessed, but was unlikely to be charged, he said.
