Fatal crash near PN
Emergency services attended the scene of a fatal accident near Bainesse, west of Palmerston North.
A man in one vehicle and two adults and a child in another vehicle were injured in the crash at the intersection of Riverbank Rd and Highway 56, according to St John.
The crash happened about 7pm Friday.
The injured trio were taken to Palmerston North Hospital by ambulance, two were in a moderate condition while a child had minor injuries.
A child and a 19-year-old woman were treated and discharged, hospital spokesman Dennis Geddis said. A man in his 20s was admitted to hospital in a stable condition.
The man died at the scene.
A crane was called to retrieve the vehicle, which had landed on its roof, police communications shift commander Mark Oliver said.
The name of the dead man will be released once next of kin were notified, police said.
