Callouts to skifields dominated the activities of the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter in the past week.
On Tuesday, September 18, there was a callout to Turoa for an injured skier. On Wednesday there was pilot training in the morning, followed by a callout to Whakapapa skifield in the afternoon.
On Friday there were two afternoon callouts to Turoa skifield. On Saturday morning there was training for Search and Rescue members, followed by two callouts to Turoa – finishing into the evening.
Yesterday, there was an early morning callout for a medical emergency near Tiraumea, east of Eketahuna, an afternoon callout to Turoa and a medical emergency at Taihape for a 3-year-old.
