Organisers of a Highbury youth festival this weekend have hopes up to 1000 people could turn out for the free event.

Christian Community Church youth and community leader Jeremy Faumuina had his fingers crossed for good weather in Palmerston North for the annual United Flavours event that begins at 4pm today at the CCC church on Pascal St.

Live graffiti art, bombing walls, and music are on the agenda this evening, with more treats ahead for Highbury tomorrow.

About 350 people showed up last year and the church hoped to draw wider participation for the family-friendly event.

Tomorrow at 10am crowds are expected to descend on the Highbury Whanau Centre with a main stage set up for bands, as well as sports and workshops on offer, including hip hop dancing, krump dancing, and free music and food.
