The best pub, the best cafe and the best restaurant were just a few of the sought-after prizes at this year’s Manawatu Hospitality Awards.
Held at the Regent on Broadway in Palmerston North last night the ceremony recognised the best in the industry and also included best barista, best waiter and best chef of the year.
Winners: Manawatu Standard supplier of the year: Davis Trading.
Manawatu Hospitality caterer of the year: Cafe Express.
Tootill Electrical takeaway of the year: Fishtown Takeaways.
Toops pub of the year: Celtic Inn.
Lion Breweries bar/nightspot of the year: The Fish Cocktail & Wine Bar.
Hospitality NZ waiter of the year: Krystal Simpson (Mao Bar).
Bruno Rossi barista of the year: Andrew Feldon (Tomato Cafe).
Boundary Road Brewery bartender of the year: Karl Allen (Rose & Crown).
HSI maitre d' of the year (joint winners): Mel Antonio (Rendezvous) and Yvette Kennedy (Nero).
UCOL emerging chef of the year: Jelena Mills (Nero).
Bidvest chef of the year: Ryan Marshall (Aberdeen on Broadway).
Manawatu Hospitality personality of the year: Danny Yeung (China Inn).
Davis Trading cafe of the year: The Elm Cafe.
Restaurant Association restaurant of the year: Bella's Cafe.
Sharon Mann memorial award: Gordon Edwards.
