Fireworks were the suspected cause of a vegetation fire on Aokautere Dr last night.
The Palmerston North Fire Service were called to the fire on the side of the road across from Cashmere Dr about 8.25pm.
Station Officer Kerry Williams said the fire spread over an area of mostly grass and toi toi about 20m wide and 30m long, and took about 20 minutes to put out.
A witness told officers they saw a car pull over and throw fireworks out the window, but it was too dark for them to get its details.
