A video clip of children from Somerset Crescent School doing their version of the ‘azonto’ around various Palmerston North locations has had more than 1500 views online.
The Year 4 to 6 students - Teina, Kore, Kara, Maia, Harley,Colin, Nehemia, Katherine and Kingstyn – are finalists in the music video category of the Manawatu Digi Awards.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony tonight.
Originally from Ghana, Azonto is a rhythmic dance which has been popularized by soccer players and dance videos.
