Ecowars is back for 2013 to continue promoting sustainable living.

Next February and March, 10 Palmerston North student flats will compete over eight weeks to see which is the cleanest and greenest.

With previous sponsors confirmed, along with the help of this year's winning flat and landlord, the Ecowars logistics meeting on Tuesday night set out to attract new sponsors to continue to make Ecowars bigger and better than before, Ecowars spokeswoman Chrissie Morrison said.

Student City initiated the competition, which will be in its third year in 2013, with the aim of inspiring long-term behavioural changes in regards to living environmentally, she said.

Over the eight weeks, those in the chosen flats attend weekly courses to learn the likes of brewing their own beer and making compost.

Flats can pre-register online at the Student City website for the 2013 competition, which has $15,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
