A car flipped and crashed into a bank near Pahiatua on a twisting stretch of State Highway 2.
Pahiatua Sergeant Jymahl Glassey said the elderly driver of the vehicle was heading south when the crash happened about 3 kilometres out of town shortly after 2pm yesterday.
It appeared the car, of unknown make, had crossed on to the opposite side of the road and off on to the grass verge before veering back into the correct lane.
It had then flipped and hit the bank.
Neither the driver, nor his two passengers, a middle-aged man and an elderly man, were injured.
The road was dry at the time and alcohol is not believed to be involved.
Mr Glassey said the crash was still under investigation.
