An 84-year-old farmer, missing for two nights in rugged Nelson Lakes country, is safe after making it to a remote farm house.

Feilding hunter Roy Marston was reported missing on Monday evening after failing to rendezvous with his hunting companions near Lake Rotoroa in the Nelson Lakes National Park.

Search teams led by Nelson Bays police scoured the area for two days and found no trace of Mr Marston.
But at 7pm Wednesday he arrived at a Tutaki Valley farmhouse, about 20km across rugged country from the search area.

He was being checked at Murchison Hospital, but police said early indications were that was in good health.
