LATEST: A man in his 20s has been Tasered after attacking a police officer in Woodville.
Police were called to a party about 1.15am Sunday after it was reported as out of control.
Palmerston North police acting senior sergeant Phil Ward said between 20 and 30 people were at the party.
The first officers who arrived called for backup from Palmerston North, and as the officers went into a garage at the property, one of them was attacked.
Police responded with the Taser.
Pahiatua Sergeant Jymahl Glassey said the officer hit suffered a sore head and a scrape on the arm after being struck by the man, but received no lasting injuries.
The Woodville officer was one of three who attended the party.
Police were initially called to assist noise control in confiscating a stereo from the address.
A 27 year-old man is due to appear in the Palmerston North District Court today on two charges of assaulting police.
A 24 year-old man was also arrested at the party, and will appear on charges of threatening to kill and possession of an offensive weapon.
