A magnitude 3.7 quake has woken residents in and around Whanganui.
LATEST: Striking at a depth of 20km, 35km south-west of Whanganui, Geonet described the quake as "light".
The quake struck at 6.05 and was felt as far north as Whanganui and as far south as Porirua.
