Two people have been taken to Palmerston North Hospital after a house fire at a Roslyn property this afternoon.

Fire officers were called to the burning villa on Heretaunga St at 12pm today.

A St John spokesman was unsure whether the two people were suffering from burns or smoke inhilation.

Their condition was "minor", he said.

It is the second house fire in Roslyn in less than a week.

On Friday three fire appliances from Palmerston North were called to a "fairly fierce fire" on Mersey Tce which took hold following a domestic dispute.

A man has been arrested and charged with setting fire to the property and threatening to kill the home's owner.

The 54-year-old appeared in the Palmerston North District Court on Saturday and will reappear this week.
