LATEST: Almost 4000 Powerco customers in Rangitikei were left without power this morning due to a fault in the company’s electricity network.
Network Operations Manager Phil Marsh said power went out to 3900 customers about 5:45am, affecting customers throughout Rangitikei, encompassing homes in Marton Crofton, Fern Flat, Fordell, Greatford, Hunterville, Kakariki, Mt Curl, Nga Tawa, Turakina, Turakina Valley, Tutaenui, Kaikarangi, Ohingaiti, Otairi, Putorino and Rata.
By mid-morning, power had been restored to 2500 customers, and the rest were expected to be reconnected by early afternoon.
