A woman has been taken to Palmerston North Hospital after a car crash on the outskirts of Palmerston North.

The woman, driving a green Nissan Micra, was believed to have failed to stop at a stop sign at the Kairanga-Bunnythorpe Rd intersection with Milson Line, police said.

A black van travelling along Milson Line had to take evasive manouevres to avoid a collision with the woman's car but crashed into it, spinning her vehicle into a ditch.

She was taken to Palmerston North Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the van, builder Rob Frank, said he was "quite shaken up".
