Palmerston North's Norman Ross may be closing down, but none of the staff will be out of work.

The Rangitikei St store put a sign up yesterday, advertising a closing down sale.

Company spokeswoman Kerry Maconaghie said the space would not be empty though.

''The store is being rebranded as a Harvey Norman store.''

Harvey Norman owns the Norman Ross brand, but was phasing it out, she said.

''We have 30 stores operating under this brand with Norman Ross operating a three-store brand.

''The Harvey Norman brand is our primary brand and we are looking at strengthening this by rebranding the Norman Ross stores to Harvey Norman stores.''

All 26 staff at Norman Ross in Palmerston North had been retained to work in the new Harvey Norman, she said.

Norman Ross opened in November 2008, and would have its last day on February 28.
