A man has been taken to Palmerston North Hospital after being thrown from his scooter in a crash in Terrace End this afternoon.

Emergency services were called turned to the corner of Fitzroy St and Main St at about 1.45pm, where a red Toyota Prado had collided with back of the scooter, throwing the scooter driver onto the road.

Constable Tina Lord said the 53-year-old scooter driver had minor whiplash and was being treated in hospital as a precautionary matter.

Lord said both the scooter and the Prado were turning left onto Main St and as the Prado accelerated they had collided.

She described the crash as a "nose-to-tail."

The scooter driver's partner Shelley said the crash was a scary moment.

"My neighbour saw it and she was like 'holy hell'.

"She came running over to tell me what had happened and then I was running.

"I think he will be OK but I always tell him, you've just got to be so careful on a scooter."

Do you have faith in police solving burglaries?

Yes - there's no faulting their commitment.

Mostly, but they are under-resourced.

Sort of - depends on when and where.

Not really - clearly a low priority for them.

Absolutely not.

Not sure - luckily I've never been burgled.
