Tight contests in club rugby semis
The two teams in blue, Massey University and Kia Toa, will clash in next Saturday's Manawatu club final.
Both survived nail-biting semifinals today to get there.
Kia Toa knocked over last season's Hankins Shield champions College Old Boys by 33-32.
It took a try late in the game from wing Newton Tudreu and a pressure conversion from Jade Te Rure to despatch COB.
College had come back from 18-6 down and 20-12 adrift at halftime to to take the lead with eight minutes remaining.
At Massey University, Varsity held off a huge comeback from Feilding Yellows to win 26-24.
The students had romped to a 21-0 lead at halftime and there had been only one team in it.
But Feilding came out of the blocks to win the second half 26-3, staved off by a solitary second-half try by the home team.
In the fifth-sixth playoff, Old Boys-Marist bolted away to beat Freyberg 52-17.
