Man who stabbed police officer remanded
An intellectually disabled man charged with stabbing a police officer has been remanded on bail in a secure Palmerston North unit.
Barry Richard Cameron, 46, allegedly assaulted and stabbed Palmerston North constable Jason Turner in an "incident" in the city on August 13.
In the Palmerston North District Court today, defence lawyer Jock Turnbull sought bail for Cameron in a staffed unit on Dittmer Drive.
Judge Les Atkins granted this request.
Cameron will appear in court again in September.
