Man taken to hospital after cutting stomach
A Palmerston North man has been rushed to hospital after cutting his stomach open.
Constable Perry Karatau said police were called to Selby St in Hokowhitu about 5pm where a man was being treated by St John for a stomach injury.
"We turned up an found a ... man who lives at the address and he had two lacerations to the lower abdomen," he said.
"He was transported to hospital conscious and speaking."
The man has a wife and two children and shortly after the incident members of the community began gathering at his house.
Mr Karatau said no one else was involved in the incident and the circumstances are unknown.
"We aren't sure what the weapon is because we cant find it, but from speaking with members of the community there seems he has had a knife," he said.
"Language is a barrier with immediate family and we've got an interpreter."
Mr Karatau said the family was helping police.
