Police chase ends near Pahiatua
A 27-year-old Woodville man will appear in court this week after a police car was rammed and police led on a high-speed chase.
Pahiatua Constable Brad Hall said police were called to a Woodville property about 2pm yesterday to a disturbance. When they arrived, a man got into his car, then allegedly deliberately backed into a patrol car trying to block his exit, police say. The patrol car had minor damage to the front, and the officer was not injured.
The police chased the man who was stopped south of Pahiatua about 15 minutes later. He pulled over before reaching road spikes and police were able to block him in and arrest him, Mr Hall said.
A man will appear in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday, facing charges of reckless driving and intentional damage.
