Anna Guy, the sister of murdered Feilding farmer Scott Guy, is expecting a baby with her new partner.
Her father, Bryan Guy, told One News that he had known for a few weeks about the pregnancy and the family was "delighted".
Anna, who separated from Ewen Macdonald – the man acquitted of murdering Scott Guy, has been in a relationship with marketing executive Brent Jameson for more than a year.
She has settled on Auckland's North Shore, where she blogs for the Essential Mums website on EssentialMums.co.nz.
Bryan Guy said the pregnancy was not "entirely unexpected" and it was welcome news after a difficult few years.
He told One News the baby was due in March. He didn't know its gender.
The baby daughter of another Guy family member, Anna and Scott's sister and Palmerston North city councillor, Nikki Guy, died soon after birth.
Baby Elsie Jane Speedy, born to Nikki Guy and her husband James Speedy on August 18, passed away at Auckland's Starship children's hospital.
Nikki Guy married Speedy this year and announced she would not be seeking re-election as she wanted to devote her energy to the family.
A public notice published in the Manawatu Standard described the baby who lived for just two weeks as "our precious little moo", a beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece and cousin.
Macdonald, 32, is serving a five-year sentence in Christchurch Men's Prison after admitting six crimes that surfaced during the murder investigation. They included the arson of an old farmhouse on Scott Guy's property, vandalism of the new home of Scott Guy and his wife, Kylie, and killing calves on a Foxton property.
He was earlier this year declined parole and ordered to undergo "intensive psychological therapy" to address his "underlying issues" before he next faced the board this year.
He is next eligible for parole in November.
