A cheeky play on words has seen a legendary piece of lingerie take out a top award at the Heartland Lions Bra Artz exhibition in Palmerston North.
"The Hanging Gardens of Boobylon", created by Jan Kent, was yesterday awarded the ‘wittiest title' by guest judge and Manawatu Standard editor Michael Cummings.
Public votes for the "Breast in Show" award will be open until the exhibition closes on Saturday at 3pm.
About 90 decorated bras have been on display in the Downtown Shopping Centre since Wednesday to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation during its awareness month and Pink Ribbon Appeal.
Heartland Lions president Yvonne McEwen said that the exhibition had attracted a lot of interest, with $400 made on the first day.
"About 600 or 700 people have been through the doors, it's been a constant flow, with people coming through all the time," she said. "Some of the bras are absolutely amazing.
"I'm glad the Breast in Show is done by public voting because I would not have been able to choose one, they're all so good."
Ms McEwan said the calibre of entries was very high and it was likely the exhibition would be held annually.
* The exhibition is open in the Downtown Shopping Centre between 10.30am and 3pm daily.
