A helping hand from a community fairy godmother will ensure three Palmerston North schools are able to complete projects by the end of the year.
The Eastern and Central Community Trust, a charitable trust which gives money to benefit the community, has announced it will give donations to three schools to help with worthwhile causes.
It will donate $5000 to Takaro School to help it build nine fitness stations to improve students' health and wellbeing. The Highbury school will be able to build two more fitness stations along a 1.2km exercise track.
Fellow Highbury school Somerset Crescent will receive $2500 towards kapa haka uniforms. About half the school's students are Maori and a growing number are performing in the Hau Pihi kapa haka group.
Roslyn School will receive $1500 towards a programme to help students learn to play imaginary games, socialise positively and develop problem-solving skills.
Donations manager Bev Watkins said the trust's role was to give to causes that would benefit the community.
