Police search after armed robbery
A robber armed with a knife and wearing a disguise who held up a Palmerston North dairy remained on the run this morning.
A male employee was working in the Tiritea Dairy on the corner of Featherston and Albert St at about 8.15pm yesterday when he was forced to hand over money to an offender confronting him with a knife, Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said.
After getting the money, the offender then went outside the dairy and exchanged something with a second offender.
The two took off in different directions, one heading down Albert St and the other towards Heretaunga St.
Police were this morning conducting a scene examination of the dairy and interviewing the dairy worker and other witnesses in the area, Mr Sheridan said.
The Tiritea Dairy was closed this morning, with a sign on the door saying they would reopen at 10am.
Staff inside the store did not want to talk to the Manawatu Standard.
Anyone with information related to the case was advised to call Detective Jonny Oram on 06 351 3877.
