About 1500 children packed the Manawatu Royal Show in Feilding yesterday as the four-day extravaganza reaches fever pitch this weekend.
They crowded the petting zoo, which had donkeys, hens, chicks and young goats and lambs.
Schools programme co-ordinator Anna James said there had been a great response, with both town and country pupils attending.
They had a guided tour and activity books to fill out.
The show continues today at Manfeild Park with more equestrian events, the farriers will be shoeing horses and the best pigs will be at the grounds.
Dairy and beef cattle and sheep are also on display and competing.
